Potential Members

Thank you for your interest in Gamma Theta Chi Sorority. Choosing a sorority that is right for you can be a challenging decision.

Why should I join a multicultural sorority?
A multicultural women's group, like GT-Chi, provides an environment that is welcoming to all women regardless of race, religion, major, or age. Being apart of the sorority deepens cultural awareness while providing friendship networks. Furthermore, some college women, feel that sorority life enriches the college experience.

Does GT-Chi charge dues?
A sister or potential sister is not judged by the amount of money in which she can contribute. The first priority in GT-Chi is commitment and social support to the organization. Modest dues are collected to help fund sorority activities, however no member who is helpful and dedicated to the sisterhood will be turned away because she faces unavoidable financial obligations. We are committed to keeping our sisterhood affordable and work together to support the organization.

What is the new member intake process and what happens during this period?
The new member intake process begins during Rush. Rush is a time when a potential sister will have the opportunity to find out important information about GT-Chi and ask questions concerning membership. Attending Rush activities does not obligate a potential member to join. After Rush activities are complete, a potential sister will have the opportunity to begin the official intake period and experience a memorable and fulfilling process toward becoming a sister.

What does GT-Chi do to prevent hazing?
GT-Chi stands firm to endorse a new member intake process that is fair and rewarding to the sorority experience. We are against any activities that do not uphold this standard. To view our policy against hazing, please refer to the links on your left.

Why is there a multicultural emphasis in the GT-Chi sisterhood?
GT-Chi was founded on the principle of prioritizing diversity and cultural understanding. Our sisters represent a variety of racial ethnicities including African American, Asian, Caucasian, Caribbean, Latina, and Native American decent.

Who is the ideal GT-Chi candidate?
The ideal GT-Chi candidate would be a woman from Columbia College, Roosevelt University, or DePaul University. (If you are a student from another school please contact us at
gtcsorority@yahoo.com)  She should also have a desire to try her best and encourage sisterhood among all women. We accept both undergraduate and graduate students of all majors.

I want to find out more information. What should I do next?
